![]() Sri Lanka is a truly amazing country to visit. We are a family of four (with two boys aged 6 and 11) from Cyprus and had the pleasure of crisscrossing this literally gem of an island in April-May 2011 for two weeks. What you see in this travelogue is our account of this visit. It is presented here to showcase our trip to our friends and in order to help other families that are thinking of visiting Sri Lanka and give them our take on what tourism in Sri Lanka is all about. Our tour We landed in Sri Lanka's main International airport located north of Colombo at Negombo. From there we took a roughly clockwise direction to see the places we wanted and could in the two weeks we had. We stayed in seven different hotels for our thirteen overnights and feel we got the tour scheduled quite right for us. The areas we chose for our accommodation were Dambulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Yala, Galle, Ahungala and Negombo. The "must see" places we visited were the Pinnawala Elephant orphanage, the Dambulla Caves, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Yala Park, Galle and Balapitiya where we had an exceptional river safari on Madu Ganga.
We will be adding parts to our account on our Sri Lanka family holiday as we find the time to do so. If you would like to contact us with a question or comment on Sri Lanka you can email us at info [at] sri-lanka-family-holiday-vacation.com. |
